Fifty Flip Clothing

ABOUT US

Fifty Flip is a Pinoy clothing company based in Carson, CA, a large Filipino community located ten miles south of Los Angeles. We have been designing Filipino-inspired clothing since 1998. Fifty Flip was founded by Mike Mercado, a proud fresh-off-the-boat who was born and raised in the Philippines.

At a young age and can barely speak English, Little Mikee and his worn-out slippers was teased by fellow Filipinos for having a thick accent, for combing his hair sideways, for wearing tight pants (and yes, before tight pants were in), and for sporting a cut-off Filipino-Strength t-shirt (and yes, the shirt with a Samoan dude printed on the back). Not caring about what other people thought of him, Little Mikee started designing Filipino-inspired shirts for himself. His very first design stated,

"Beware, I'm a Flip!"

One day, as he came across the Filipinos that teased him, he stood his ground and wore his shirt proudly. He thought that he was about to get a can of a*s whoppin. Instead, they laughed and asked him where he got his shirt from. Never again did they make fun of Little Mikee! Eventually, they all became friends and collectively started Fifty Flip.

Other people started noticing Fifty Flip and, by word-of-mouth alone, the demand for the tees started spreading like a virus. The rest is history!

We would like to bring Filipino clothing back to its roots, the old-school way, by making it fun and creative, and most importantly, by keeping it real. We encourage our following to understand that...

"It's Not Some Trendy Fashion, It's Culture!"
